Costa Rica is known as a natural history paradise, and one of
the prime destinations for the ecotourist. With Pulitzer Prize-winning
science writer Natalie Angier (Woman:
An Intimate Geography) we visited several key sites in the Central
American country in search of species rare and beautiful from
Tortuguero's turtle nesting beaches to the rainforests of Corcovado,
from the misty mountains of Monteverde to the coffee plantations of
the Valle Central. It was carried live on the Web during January, 2003,
for the "Well-Traveled" series on Slate.com.(Gold
medal winner, Society
of American Travel Writers, "Best Environmental Tourism Article"
2002)
