A
couple years ago, when it was still possible,
we made a trip to Cuba to explore Old Havana and the street life
of the city. Our visit started on May Day, 2002, and ended just
five days later a week before Jimmy Carter came to Cuba at
Castro's invitation, a period of cautious optimism in US-Cuba relations
that seems like a lifetime ago. Herewith two graphical looks at
Cuba, one from the glory days of Mungo
Park and one from a more recent and low-profile visit.

PAINTINGS
OF CUBA: Explore Roger Mason's vision of Cuba from 1995, when
he lived there for several months gathering material for his music
and his canvas. Clicking on the painting
or here launches the binary (you'll see what we mean) Mungo
Park production in a new window.
